“Good design is making something intelligible and memorable.Great design is making something memorable and meaningful”- Dieter Rams
Memorable Design
That’s what makes great design for me; function and form merging, in a way that brings life and energy to the space. Sometimes beautiful kitchen cabinets need to function within a set remodeling budget, this will exist on a different level than an awe inspiring focal piece that took a few hundred hours to create. There is a place and time for each, and as art goes, we can work together to achieve your dream.
I will dedicate time detailing your creation. Joinery may add interest to the construction methods. Sometimes a carved or curved detail. Perhaps straight and modern for your special room. Taking the time to select wood, such as stunning hardwood grain, that breathes life into the work.
Creative Process
Design Process :
A one hour consultation is free, whether on the phone, video chat, or in person. From our discussion, I then provide a cost to complete sketch work for conceptual pieces, and an estimated cost range for the type of work you desire.
If you decide to proceed, I’ll request the sketch fee. This cost is non-refundable, and covers conceptual sketches for your consideration.
Once conceptual sketches are completed and we’ve had a chance to review together and you’ve given feedback, a more detailed budget estimate for the project will be provided. This estimate will include a line item to complete the remaining design details. If you decide to order the piece, the final design cost will be due at this time, and we go to work on that right away.
Creation:
Once a design is finalized, I will work on a final estimate, and request a deposit, this will secure your place on my schedule and initiate material ordering. Often around 50% on furniture pieces, or a third on long lasting projects. At this time, a “date of delivery window” is assessed and agreed upon.
Final payment is due on day of delivery or upon completion of installation.
Think you have a wild interesting idea or difficult situation to solve? I’d be happy to talk about the possibilities. Please feel free to call or email and I’ll be in touch shortly.
Thank you,
